Contract Award - Channel 4

Artezan have been contracted by Ibex Interiors Ltd to design and construct 7nr square meeting pods on the lower ground floor of their Horseferry Rd Headquarters building. This is a design and build project, so we have had to take the Architects (Sheppard Robson) concept and develop it into a working design. This initial phase will roll out to a further 8 areas, each of which will have further meeting pods, over the next 15 months, potentially to an overall value of £1m.

The structures consist of heavy gauge EOS framing, developed by them, including all structural calculations, in the form of columns, beams, ceiling frames and wall frames and is approx 25m long x 3m wide.

Each column and beam is clad in Valchromat grey core died MDF, with a clear lacquer finish, all of which are removable. Services run within the frame voids to feed fan coil units and lighting.

Each pod has its own theme, combining acoustic glass panels, glass sliding doors, various colour powder coated steel panels and fabric wrapped panels, as the various wall modules. The ceilings are painted mdf, housing light fittings and FCU grilles. Some pods are open sided; others are fully enclosed to form meeting spaces.

Channel 4 will be applying their own themed manifestation to the glass modules.

The whole system is modular and demountable such that each pod can be reconfigured as required, so glass panels, steel panels and fabric panels are all interchangeable with one another.

Each phase is fast track programme; this first phase is 10 weeks, including all design development, and including a 4 week on site installation period, which we are due to complete on 17th December 2010.
