Dumfries & Galloway Hospital - contract secured

The hospital is in Dumfries which is very close to Castle Works, our manufacturing faciity, which was a big selling point as it provides job opportunities to local trades and significantly improves the carbon footprint of the job with the factory being so close to the site.

Swift Horsman have been contracted to design, build and install 80nr shower / WC Pods for an Acute Mental Health Facility.

We will be utilising our Pod system for this, our first healthcare project for Laing O’Rourke.

The work we complete is to create environments that are geared to the health, safety and dignity of patients and the health and safety of staff.

There is a challenging lead-in time for both design and manufacture. The design has gone well so far with Paul Kay achieving very good results.

Design, Podwall & Construction staff has worked well together to advance the design in a new market.

The materials to be used on this project include:

   • Lightweight metal structure forming the box.
   • Altro Marine safety flooring
   • Altro Whiterock wall covering to shower areas.
   • Compact Grade laminates to WC area walls and vanity unit.
   • Dart Valley “Safe Ensuites” Sanitary & Brass ware. Full Control electronic control system to be used with sensor taps
   • Specialist Anti Ligature grab rails.
   • Anti ligature fittings & safety mirrors.

The Pods are required on site from end of August to final delivery in early October, completion of installation by March 2011
