Swift Horsman win work at The Shard

Swift Horsman has been awarded the Toilet Fit-out package at The Shard, Europe’s tallest multi-use building based in London Bridge.

The Shard, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, is a 1,016ft / 310m mixed use high rise or more accurately a “vertical city”. The building consists of 28 stories of office space, 12 floors of residential, 6 mid levels of public space and the Shangri-La has taken 18 stories for its flagship European hotel. The tower will also have a naturally ventilated radiator at its tip and on the 72nd floor a public viewing gallery offering 360° views of London.

The toilet fit-out package includes full fit out of all areas including plumbing, ductwork and electrical to all levels between B2 and 28.

We will be using, red and white frosted glass wall panels, European Oak for all cubicle doors and divisions and Grey Quartz for all floor and skirting tiles.  For all fixtures, fittings and mirrors, stainless steel ironmongery will be used.

We begin on site on the 31st August; however we have already started setting out the 1st few levels.  We are due to be on site for 56 weeks.

This project will utilise our Podwall system which is our fully prefabricated modular walling system incorporating finishes and services all of which are manufactured completely offsite at our Castleworks factory.

The Shard will be a sharp and light presence on the London skyline welcoming more than 8 thousand workers, residents and hotel guests a day and more than 2 million public visitors a year.
