SwiftWall starts work at Imperial College, Hammersmith

Client: Imperial College
Contractor: Bovis
Architect: Sheppard Robson / Bovis Lend Lease

This contract is the re development of Block L at Imperial College, Hammersmith Campus.

The development once completed will provide a six storey scientific research building located on the South West corner of Imperial College's Hammersmith campus. Scheduled for occupation in 2012, the new building will be a flagship facility for Imperial's Academic Health Science Centre, integrating patient centred research with translational science activity.

Researchers in the new facilities will carry out clinical trials of new treatments and help to advance understanding of a wide range of health problems, such as heart and circulatory disease - the UKs biggest killer.

We will be undertaking the partitions and suspended ceilings package on site which includes British Gypsum and Burgess products. We will be using Rigidur board throughout the Partition installation as the client requires the flexibility to fix furniture and furnishings to the walls in the future. The original specification was for the supply and installation of Plywood behind plasterboard everywhere but SwiftWall proposed the Rigidur specification. This reduces the quantity of sheet material being delivered to site by 8000 number.

Our construction programme commences on August 9th for duration of 30 weeks.
