Apprentices' Graduate

Today saw a major milestone for the Swift Horsman Training School with the graduation of the first eleven apprentices’ from the Level 2 Woodworking NVQ and one graduating from Level 2 Plumbing NVQ.

The bespoke woodworking qualification that we offer is delivered from our own training school facility.  The qualification incorporates one week of classroom and workshop learning and three weeks site carpentry experience alongside their mentors on live construction sites.

To mark the occasion all the apprentices were invited, along with family, friends and mentors, to a ceremony at the Training School where Gary Saunders (MD) proudly presented them with their NVQ certificates.

Most of the group are already planning to undertake their Advanced Apprenticeship which Swift Horsman will continue to support them through.

We were recently winners at the regional level of the ‘Apprenticeships Awards 2009’ for the commitment and dedication to improving the existing options for carpentry apprenticeships. Gary Saunders himself was also highly commended by City & Guilds for his contributions to the construction industry through his work at SHGL.  He was presented with the commendation during a prestigious luncheon at Buckingham Palace where the Duke of Edinburgh presented the awards.

The main goal of the company has and always will be to develop the skilled workforce needed to take the construction industry into the future.

A huge congratulations to all our graduates.
